You can't forget that when the original seismic was done in the JDZ the technology to extract oil from these depths was not available and has only recently become economically viable. As such, STP thought they were giving up very little and ERHC fell into an extremely advantageous situation. I don't see why you feel now STP can reneg on the contract and ask for a better deal in that the monies have grown so astronomically.
JDZ not a bad deal for the people of STP; they had nothing to start with and the monies from the JDZ should make all their lives better except for the politicians with their unquenchable greed and embarrassment at realizing what a poor contract they negotiated. I don't think the people of STP will benefit much differently whether they get 10%, 40%, or 80% of the entire JDZ monies as all will be lining the pockets of the aforementioned.
