Obviously in hindsight it was a terrible move. However, JJ's mistake wasn't so much the selection of Amarant, it was that he relented on his edict that he would not pick a partner without an upfront financial commitment. Had he stuck with that requirement, then Amarant never would've entered the picture because (in hindsight) clearly they didn't have the funds. This issue was further exacerbated by the renegotiated contract in July 2012 where the contract was extended further without cash payment in consideration of 90 million shares of now near worthless paper in Alluvia Mining.

JJ moving ahead without Amarant paying any money was by far his biggest mistake and Medinah and its shareholders suffered the consequences as Ulander strung the company along and tied up the property without paying a dime. This was the single most important situation that needed to be avoided after the Partner A fiasco and somehow it was allowed.

JJ cannot relent on this requirement again.
