It's not just a remote possibility. Look at the SBIR guidelines (they have pumped well over $1,000,000.00 into the high pressure comman rail by AFT (Bosch) and phase II should be about to wrap up.

Phase III is commercialization and all that goes with it. The Army is waiting Bosch, though not mentioning AFT by name, says it is waiting for the "future" high pressure system to be made available. The International DME associations website lists 4 companys...three multi-nationals and AFT as the companies involved in the manufacture and use of DME (the robust word used again withg regard to AFT).

Argonne Nationl Labs is working with AFT and The national Science Foundation awarded them a grant some months ago (2 awards from 100 applications) This may well tie in with SBIR's assertation that they will provide engineering and scientific support to move a products into Phase III. AFT could also get "sole source" provder as the government spent a lot of dough getting this system perfected by AFT.

Keep in mind that throughout the entire SBIR process the progress is monitored and the liklihood of successful commercialization is stricly looked at !

Argonne and NSF did not cvome in to help with a product that was not well on its way toward commercialization...and the also assist with licesing and contracts... so.. maybe Bosch will manufature it and AFT will get royalties and continue its work on the many other projects re: DME that it is spearheading!

GLTA

It's a winner..no doubt.

Army considers the 1 fuel option a critical part of its future with regard to fuels for not just JP-8 ready aircraft, but ground vehicles..that what AFT is doing.

Alos look for other large engine uses..(See SBIR award to AFT) Marine, farm equipment etc.

Be great to see a regional DME plant from farm waste set up by operon for the scraps. And turned into fuel for the farm equipment...just have it right by those central grain elevators are in the heartland...amazing stuff.
