I opened a Suretrader account about a month ago and when I first started I could short most every penny play I tried. Just this week was the first time I couldn't short them due to being under a dollar.

From the posts I read over on Day Shorters board which is an affiliate of this board the consensus seems to be the clearinghouse that ST uses isn't allowing this any longer and ST is seeking a clearinghouse that will allow this to continue.
