Frankly, I hope they raise some cash and spend it upgrading the printers to the next generation real soon, if they haven't begin already. I know this type of science takes careful consideration, and thus time, to do it right. OR they can throw lots of people and resources at it to get it done faster.
This technology should be on fast track for incremental improvements, now that they've proven the technique.
They can improve on the environmental controls to stabilize the tissue structures, and figure out how to print much larger structures. I'm thinking sterile molds in the shape of the intended organs or structures to hold the outer shape of the lower layers as they are added on to, instead of a flat petri dish.
Any bets on how soon the military tries to get one of these printers for secret "biological studies"?
