Why all the concern over the yield curve?

This is a very useful chart for those watching the yield curve (and who isn't the last few days). You can click on the chart of the S&P on the right and see what the yield curve looked like for that period (shown on the left chart).

NOTE the transition from 1999 to 2000 and how it compares to today..very similar. Then notice the 2000 top, we are not quite there, but that's what recession watchers will be looking for...and what they fear will happen again starting in 2006.
