I just asked etrade why this happened in my portfolio and I just got a response back. It sounds like having a stock change into a random number of letters and numbers is just standard procedure whenever a stock undergoes a big change like a symbol change and/or a share reduction. Also, it looks like the symbol will change to ALGFD once the dust has settled.

Here's the actual response that I got:

"Thank you for your message regarding ALGF undergoing corporate action.

ALGF is currently undergoing a corporate action. When the transfer agent updates and issues new shares you will see the symbol change in your portfolio. The symbol you see now is the cusip for that particular stock. A CUSIP is a unique nine-character identification, called a CUSIP number, for each class of security approved for trading in the U.S., to facilitate clearing and settlement."
