Statesville’s Bebida Beverage enjoying relaxation-drink trend upward

Sales of relaxation beverages are far from chilling out, and Bebida Beverage Co. of Statesville is riding the upward trend.

Industry revenue in the United States totaled to $73.7 million in 2011, doubling the 2010 level, according to BloombergBusinessweek.

At BeBevCo, as the company is sometimes called, sales of Koma Unwind are far from relaxing, says Daisy Ramirez, chief operating officer.

“With $1.6 million in revenues and net income of more than half a million dollars in Q1 2013 alone, we are strong and growing,” she writes in an update for shareholders. An exact comparison for 2010 and 2011 BeBevCo sales wasn’t immediately available.

Koma Unwind was included in a BloombergBusinessweek graphic last month showing the top sellers in the market. Others included Bcalm, Marley’s Mellow Mood and Neurobliss.

Koma Unwind was the least expensive among the six top sellers: $21 for a 12-pack.
