About 1.5 years.

First 6 months I lost a ton, thought I knew what I was doing after spending countless hours of research before hand and reading 'how to play' in the market. Whats sad is everything I lost in, if I just held 30-45 days I would have doubled my money each time.

Basically most of the books out there (for money) it seems, are useless. They can give you some basic ideas and concepts but... yeah, totally should not have listened to the advice of those books and I would have made out better.

Since then I started recuperating my significant losses, really started to really excel with trading in general about 9 months ago, about when I broke even with my losses, though, I admit I never really took the time to learn more advanced technical analysis / charting until after I started posting on this forum. (found it randomly when doing FNMA research in late May. Barely missed the last spike, started watching it on the peak day and didn't have any funds free! Oh god that hurt missing out!)

Learned some from other members on this forum, learned a lot just watching this ticker in itself and the way the charting pattern populates so perfectly with this one compared to others I've been in.

It's been a new experience for me. I am a man of very specific tendencies, most of all, backup plans. Basically I intend to make out with at least 500k - 1million in financials prior to announcing a retirement from my day job, though since I'm nice I'll give about 3 months notice (at least).

So ultimately, my personal goal is to become a full time trader in the next few years. We'll see what happens, I'm optimistic.

So that's my trading story. Good luck mate.
