Yes, It's a circular logic:

It's debt or interest depending upon your perspective.
If you beg a loan then you seek a lower interest, if you lend you seek to hold your monetary value against inflation.

We chase a depleting return:
If we borrow we must produce abundance to pay the loan and a life for our family.
If we lend we must protect against the failure of the loan and inflation caused by over production.

In any scenario.......the devaluation of the dollar has fucked both.
