Fannie Mae-No Politics (FNMA)

May be a silly ?... which side predominately pushed the toxic mortgages onto FnF making them the scapegoat during the crisis? Obviously the banking world is predominately a Repub. venue and their M.O. was to let FnF take the blame. However were the Democrats game as well for letting FnF take the blame? Were both parties equally involved in FnF as the scapegoat? Or were the Democrats fighty tooth and nail to not pin this on FnF? Just curious, obviously they were the only giant that could handle such a fall. This may give us insight into what the democrats mindset is on FnF. Republican mindset is crystal clear with FnF.
