Proteomics was their thing. Proteomics was hit harder than any of the genomics companies. Your gubmint had grand plans to map the proteome which all came to nothing as far as I know. It was never really clear to me - and I thought to them as well - where they were going with it. A biomarker they were trying to sell did come out of it. Others have biomarkers that have been derived with through proteomics, which may be showing signs of life - or maybe it is just rigor mortis setting in.
One English proteomics outfit was the target of a hostile takeover for less than cash 3 or 4 years ago. LSBC had said that company was the most like themselves which might have been a clue to the future.
LSBC's technology developed with Dow that produced proteins in tobacco plants always seemed the one valuable part of the company.
The cancer vaccine was one of three that came from Dr. Levy at Stanford. GTOP is in Phase III as you know. LSBC's would have been produced in tobacco plants. They had trouble explaining to me how they would overcome GTOP's Orphan Drug designation. LSBC did produce other proteins and had some small sales as well as some minor research revenues.
Again if anything is left, it will be that Kentucky tobacco farm and the technology for producing proteins from plants that also included water lillies. I have no idea if the biomarker that was supposed to detect ovarian cancer early has any value.
