Well there you have it. An expert opinion from a Texan that lives in Texas. I should have known. It is true if your drilling program is taking place were they have hit oil during their Exploratory and delineation phase and has been well defined you could hit 10 out of 10. However, Exploratory operation, by there nature, are for the most part high risk and expensive undertakings. The 3-D seismic imagery has been a big help in finding previously missed or over looked deposits of oil. Having said that, understand 3-D seismic is just one of many tools used in search of oil and as good a tool as it is, still is not an exact science. So to say that in a true Exploratory Drilling Program you will hit 10 out of 10 is just not true. By the way, catdaddyrt, the company I started 32 years ago on 10,000.00 dollars is today a multi million dollar operation. We have 2 and 3 phase separation equipment, test labs, flow back choke manifolds with w.p. from 2000# p.s.i. to 150000 p.s.i. flare stacks, 15k pipe, ball catchers for frac flow backs, etc. Oil Companies call us out to test newly drilled wells. Now if they, as you say, hit every well they drill, i'd be out of business and business is good. Now I forgot what you said you do in the oilfield. Bet it involves a pipe wrench and hammer.
