CP, I have to disagree with you this time.

"Survival events" just means the events relevant to determining survival data for purposes of the study. While strictly speaking, calling them "death events" would be more accurate, nobody wants to use the word "death" in a pr. Doctors, politicians, and pr reps go well out of their way to avoid mentioning "death" explicitly if they can.

less than 60% survival events means that fewer than 60% of the subjects have died.

I didn't go through all the details in the long post, so won't comment on that aspect, but don't forget that this was a first-line study and once subjects disease progressed they were moved on to other treatments. We have no idea what treatments (experimental or otherwise) subjects might have been moved onto. Maybe those in the control arm got better access to experimental second line treatments.
