I've stated many times: Win8 has a lot of good performance and security enhancements for desktop users smothered by a interface for 10" tablets. Those enhancements would have generated an immediate sale of an upgrade for me and the half dozen computers in our household.

There was/is no excuse for this. The tablet interface and desktop interfaces could have been made easily be selectable for the desired platform.

There was ZERO reason to handicap the millions of those who find a touch screen serves no purpose.

If tablets or convertibles are your thing then having the option to make the fatfinger UI the default would have been fine.
