Chipguy, I guess I can understand your comments, and maybe Microsoft underestimated the stubbornness, the apathy, the skepticism, and the dogmaticalness of their user base.

Maybe it's because I'm less change averse as an individual, but I use Windows 8 regularly with few complaints. And when I do run into an issue, I can usually work around it pretty easily. As I do this, the OS feels more fluid to me, and less foreign.

By the way, that's exactly how my experience with Android went. It wasn't exactly a complete intuitive experience, but it was worth the time I put into it. I've also used iOS, which has a shorter ramp up time - yes, it is rather intuitive, but also very limited.

So I guess the argument is that Microsoft users are going to move away from Windows in droves, and learn another OS. I suppose that would be a very spiteful way to "stick it to the man" for not upholding the consistency of their experience. Quite alright for Apple and Google to do the same thing - iOS7 looks like a pretty radical departure for the iOS interface, and ICS/JB were pretty radical enhancements for Android - but if Microsoft does it, people should spite themselves to get revenge, and go through the trouble of learning something new - which they weren't willing to do with Windows 8.

I get it. It's very much in tune with my view on human nature - especially the older generation.
