Yes, it looks like this might indeed be the case for 256KB L2 cache Athlon-64s. They are supposed to have dual 64KB L1 caches. Of course, for benchmarking purposes, the 1MB Athlon-64s will be used.

I don't expect we will ever see a 256K Athlon64. I suspect the performance is just too poor to productize it.
