Creative Activities will Promote Summer Reading for Families

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- (Business Wire)

Books-A-Million, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM: BAMM) will kick off their free Family Fun Camp beginning Saturday, July 6th, from 2-4 p.m. Every Saturday in July, Books-A-Million will feature free crafts, storytime and fun storybook themed adventures for the whole family.

Adults and kids are invited to experience camp indoors where the weather is always nice as they enjoy the best in summer reading; games and creating their own take home crafts.

“We want our Family Fun Camps to be something that appeals to children of all ages, as well as include educational elements that promote literacy,” said Sandra Wilson, Senior Buyer of Children’s and Teen Books at Books-A-Million. “Our goal is to foster a love of reading through the summer months.”

Books are known to help break summer boredom. The summer months leave extra time for enthusiastic read-alouds with children, no matter what their age. Books that teach kids how to make or do something are a great way to get kids reading and keep them occupied.

Join Us For Fun This July!

July 6, Superhero Saturday
Kids are encouraged to flex their crime-fighting muscles and show off their super powers during storytime. Each participate will create their own top-secret superhero identity.

July 20, Summertime Adventure Saturday
Children will enjoy a scavenger hunt contest and have the opportunity to make their own travel journal.

July 27, Scrumdiddlyumptious Saturday
Guests are invited to a Mad Hatter tea party featuring storytime, silly hats and fun games!
