With the foundries having so much trouble keeping up with even Intel's n-1 technology and JSH publicly complaining about the cost of new nodes it's not surprising that he's thinking about licensing.

Here we have Intel encroaching with integrated graphics in a meaningful way with HSW and likely more aggressively in the next two tick-tock cycles, Atom vs Qualcomm likely wiping out all Tegra prospects for 2014 designs and iPhi roadmap laying waste to GPU compute ambitions.

Could be a real mess in two years.
