The US President announced new initiatives to free up more spectrum for mobile broadband. A Presidential Memorandum directs federal government agencies to enhance the efficiency of their use of spectrum and make more capacity available to private users. Agencies must also increase their collaboration and data-sharing with the private sector in order to maximize spectrum efficiency, as well as encourage greater sharing of spectrum between government and commercial users.
