The fact that Barton is clocked only around 2.1 Ghz is most likely attributed to the estimate that AMD sacrificed some binsplits in order to get better yields.

I would guess that it's quite the opposite. If we assume that AMD's yields are somewhere north of terrible and therefore the fab is running nowhere near capacity, AMD can sacrifice yield for higher binsplit which brings higher ASPs.
