seeking help from Ameritrade users!

I'm returning to trading after a 2 year break and funding a new account. I want to use Ameritrade but I hear they restrict a lot of penny stocks, make you call in to buy, etc. Is this true? Does this get in your way often or just very rarely? I want to use Atrade because it's so much easier to use Quotetracker.
