North American Affairs Committee

Major changes are being proposed to legislation and regulations in North America regarding transportation fuels and environmental issues, and the IDA's newly established North American Affairs committee is working to facilitate the inclusion of DME in relevant legislation, projects, and programs now underway or proposed in the region.

The North American Affairs Committee (NAAC) focuses on spearheading the certification of DME as a fuel compliant with EPA and DOE requirements, and raising awareness amongst influential lawmakers and regulatory bodies in order to facilitate DME’s inclusion in federal and state funding for fleet testing and other programs likely to further DME’s successful commercial acceptance in North America.

Led by Alternative Fuel Technology CEO Jim McCandless, the committee's members represent key stakeholder companies and clean fuel leaders in North America, Europe and Asia who wish to help shape the future of dimethyl ether as a fuel in North America, working alongside some of the world’s most prominent players in the energy and transportation industries and with the association’s strategic partners such as the Methanol Institute.
