You do realize that the deposit is poly-metallic don't you?

The old Spanish tunnels which are being re-worked are predominantly high in copper while lower in other metals. Conversely, samples from the adit (a different, though proximal, tunnel structure altogether) are higher in gold content.

That is why the ore is being separated into separate piles for processing...a gold ore pile and a copper ore pile.
