Sad news, my baby sister just had three huge sinkholes open in her horse pasture. Well, the geologist just left. It is a sinkhole - the three are all part of one larger sinkhole - but he believes they are all tied to a long fault or crack in the bedrock, and when he pointed it out you could just about see how it runs. He showed me all of the topographic maps of the area, as well as of all of the currently mapped sinkholes, it was really interesting!! He said it should be excavated to really know what's down there - other wise there's no telling how big it could grow, or how much of a danger it is. He's not charging me anything for his time even, but wants to bring his team out when I excavate. He said that I should expect that part to be expensive. For now, the horses are limited to only half of their pasture, but at least they're safe! Sally's doing better every day. If anyone happens to spot any news about gov't aid for sinkholes I hope you will post it. Just something to keep in the back of your minds. b4
