Elmer, 256K L2, 2 Mb L3, that's Xeon.

No it's not. First off, your original post said nothing about L3 cache.

IBM eServer xSeries 440 Model 8687-38X, 16-way SMP, Intel Xeon MP 2.0 GHz, 256 kB L2 cache 1090

Second, Intel doesn't offer a product with 256K L2 and 2MB L3.

The Intel Xeon processor MP was initially introduced with 256KB L2 and up to 1MB iL3 cache, and is now available with 512KB L2 and up to 2MB iL3.
