maybe what you're trying to say is that they had no choice to get what they could because they were "desperate" to get something.
But you are right in that such a statement is pure conjecture.
"Desperate" is very relative. Maybe their partners were desperate given that this would be the last opportunity for them in Kenya for a long while. Maybe their partners were desperate to get in before the value of ERHE's block was raised with studies.
Already we knew that everyone in the region seems to be finding big discoveries left and right...
...the offering (even before we knew the results) may have been the last straw to break the camel's back.
And maybe that's why they delayed issuing the results?
Conjecture runs both ways: positive and negative.
