For the last three days I have been moonlighting for my ex-employer. He wanted to go on vacation with his brother (the only installer) and he needed someone to watch/run the shop, and install this three day job.
Never being one to turn down the extra cash, I said what the hell and filled in.
Well today after I get back to the shop, Brad (the owner) was there waiting for me. Seems he had a brainstorm as how to get me back.... and this is how it goes....
60k a year to be #1 installer didn't budge me. This time it was "I'll pay and train you to be my #1 salesman. At 10% straight commission, 60k a year will soon look like chump change to you. You can work from home or the office if you'd like. Think about it and get back to me."
I said let me talk to the Boss of the family and get back to you.
It's all about sales is it not? Now I'll be back in the industry I know like the back of my hand with all the free time to still trade stocks and raise my boy. NO more crawl spaces or dirt that won’t wash away for weeks. If I don’t like the customer I price myself out of the job. I’m still my own boss and still make my own hours. God must be smiling on me, as I could never convince any of my employers to jump me up to that position no matter how much I sold for them...AND I SOLD A LOT! Now I had my ex-employer come home early from his vacation to offer me a 6k sales seminar and another Job in his company.....
Well NYC, I knew you were right. Not about my ability to make a living in the market, but as to where I would excel and prosper the most. I am going to take him up on his offer, not that I need the money, but as I know it will be the best thing for my family and myself.
