These are some things that I look at to determine stocks I may want to purchase in my 401k.

- financial statements

- dividend stocks with a dividend reinvestment plan (longer term)

- growth stocks (shorter term)

- EPS predictions

- demand for the sector

- scale in (that's my weakness, but I'm working on it) :)
