Pacira Pharmaceuticals (PCRX) says two studies support the use of EXPAREL for post surgical pain in patients undergoing abdominal procedures. The results of a study on 13 patients who underwent open abdominal hernia repair were "unprecedented," says Dr. Mark Kronenfeld, co-principal investigator, and the results of the second study show the treatment to be "safe and effective [and to] extend post surgical pain control for up to three days." PCRX is one of a group of companies focusing on the development of non-opioid pain management products
