Hiya, AD! My vote would be Craig Venter. He founded Celera Genomics, which focuses on synthetic biology. He has also created "synthetic life". Synthetic genomics is going to become the standard for making anything, in my opinion. The chemical and energy industries will eventually depend on it. Although he does not appear to be currently targeting cancer as a focus of his research (instead concentrating on synthetic biology that could be applied to clean fuels), imagine what a cure for cancer could be worth.
