Because they need to generate some "buzz". They do this by releasing after hours so people can get sufficiently giddy and eager to "load the boat" when the market first opens. This is when the people who bought today (with their infinite foresight), will be selling their shares.

This is a tried and true pattern in the pennies. Look for a nice PR tomorrow that coincides with this promotion.
