My father bought me a BB gun when I was 10 and said don't shoot any animals only do target shooting. We use to go away all summer and he would commute to work. After a few weeks I went to him and said there were no more birds around as I killed as many as I could as well as chipmunks. The state bird is the Chickadee and you could walk right up to it and they were so small. He looked at me and said let's see your gun - and took the gun and put the barrel in a vice grip and bent it into a u-turn and said maybe they will come back now. I never shot an animal with a gun since and while coming close never shot an animal with an arrow either.
