PRODUCTION= 1000 million ounces, USE= 500 million ounces

We produce twice as much silver as we use

According to the Silver Institute:

The world produces 1000 million (1 billion) ounces of silver per year but only uses 500 million ounces.

So the world only uses 1/2 of the silver that's produced, and stores the other half in massive piles of surplus.

Copper and zinc miners produce 500 million ounces of silver (all that we need) for UNDER .50 cents per ounce, as a nearly free byproduct of their copper and zinc and other metal mining operations.

Primary silver miners like Hecla, produce excess silver at a cost of $2.70 per ounce (see hecla's webpage) but we don't even need the silver from primary silver producers
