Trading strategies for a breakout, how do you play it?

I see 2 to 4 or 5 days up and than a decline usually.

How do you gauge its strength as it relates to volume and price.

How do you handle blue sky

How do you relate it to financials.

I guess I am looking for rules of thumb.
