But the most important sentence in the 4 page article..
" New predictive genetic tests for segment population.......
"Because the tests are usually categorized as clinical services,
they dont require FDA approval-which leave the doors wide open
for all kinds of products."
Maybe Tony is approaching this from another angle..
The above were in reference to an article in Oprah '05. I would presume it is the latest issue. My thoughts on this is that the FDA doesn't have authority over the implimentation of prescribing, but only on that which is perscribed. These "authoritative tests" only address the probably reaction one would have in taking a particular regimine that was previously approved. I think the gist of the whole debate is how to market these tests so they are used by the prescribing physician. The moral debate can be overcome w/ facts, as in the Bidil case.
