"But the fact that it is critical of Ripguard sure makes those who suggested that they never criticise Macrovision products because of some alumni relationship look like idiots. Such comments make SunnComm look bad."
I was one of the people that criticized Halderman on his lack of finding flaws with Macrovision's product. I am sorry, but I find it very odd that he dissects sunncomm's technology and not MVSN's. I emailed him last year and discussed how I have a MVSN copy protected CD (CDS200) and identified that I do not have to do anything other than put the disc in my PC and rip the songs off the disc like I would any other CD. His response to me then was something like this: "I will examine all the technologies and publish something in the spring". That never happened, to my knowledge, and he seemed to ignore what I was pointing out.
In a recent email to him he told me that he has reviewed Macrovision's technology and "may" publish something, MAY??? Why would he blast Sunncomm's technology and not MVSN's when their solution doesn't even work on HP DVD drives (at least my HP DVD drive)?
Is there a reason why he refuses (halderman) to publish his findings about MVSN? I don't know, but it does seem pretty odd to me.
