And I use my desktop for simulations as well as high information density displays across two 24" monitors as does my daughter and occasionally my wife.

Touch is a non-starter for these. Yet anyone using Win7 foregos the security and performance improvements of Win8 which were non-trivial.

Not everyone can use touch, not everyone needs touch, not everyone wants touch.
