My experience is that it doesn't matter how large my order is. As long as I don't specify 'All or Nothing' on the trade, I've purchased as few as 1,000 shares on an order for 25,000. Depending on price movement during the day, it may be a few hours before you get your entire block.

The downside is that 1,000 is all you get and by the time you pay your commission, your PPS is high for that small number of shares.
