I have heard of AQLV (Verity) and have actually seen them very limited in my area. Keep in mind, I am only 3 hrs from Sioux Falls.

They have a definite niche in the Agricultural market place. The more specialized you are in ag, the more profit potential for your product! The more specialized you are in ag, more limited to growth you are due to the cost and added labor needed for it. Both a strength and weakness for AQLV.

example:
I sold 20k gal of roundup for "GMO" crops last year, and maybe 100 gal of fungicide to put on soybeans to prevent white mold. (GMO soybeans would have been resistant to mold and therefore would not have needed a fungy app!)

I made more $ on the fungicide. It is specialized. Fields need to be scouted, timing of app, select crop acres, past history, etc. keeps competition down and profit margin up. This is where AQLV is focusing their business.

So, yeah, definitely potential here for all to make money! It all comes down to........drum roll............MANAGEMENT! If they decide to hire some hippie-flower-power-stoner dude from Seattle who would rather spend all his time split between hauling his old newspapers to the recycling center and going to Dave Matthews concerts as opposed to making a profit, well, I can't help ya there.

Here is some food for thought though: Just because a plant is a "non-GMO" does not mean that it can't be sprayed with a herbicide. I have actually sprayed the active ingredient in Napalm to clean up fields where the weeds get out of control!

That one even makes ME nervous! The note to physician on the label says if ingested, make patient comfortable because it is fatal and there is nothing they can do. YIKES!

If a "GMO" crop were planted, I could have sprayed Roundup and got the same outcome much safer. (Roundup is essentially a salt that goes to the roots and kills the plant kind of like if you drank ocean water. The Genetically modified part of a plant is a gene that helps metabolize the salt and not die of thirst. The simplified version!)
