Big things happening there in HIT. They are one of six members of the Gulf Co-operation Councel, along with United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman. I can only hope BL is assisting them with projects like one below and others writ large to ALL the countries of the GCC.

The GCC member states are currently working on introducing a comprehensive health record system for expatriate workers, which is to be linked through an electronic grid and fully integrated between them. High-ranking officials from the Gulf countries’ ministries of health began their three-day conference earlier this week in Kuwait. The conference is the first in the region to discuss linking screening programs for expatriates electronically and establishing an appropriate mechanism for the application of smart cards and integrated electronic links between GCC countries.
