If they cancel debt with these purchased claims, then the Trustee is paying the purchased claim in full. This would mean they would have to pay other claims in full which doesn't make sense. I don't think the Trustee can discriminate this way. This is the same as the Trustee collecting the cash and disbursing it to selected creditors.
