Why would MVSN be telling EMI about iTunes pricing, when AAPL should be negotiating directly with the major labels on iTunes pricing issues? That's the part that doesn't make sense... AAPL may be doing exactly what EMI suggests.....but AAPL may want to control when, partly for ego reasons, and partly due to sensitive ongoing negotiations with the recording industry.

Maybe EMI was bluffing to put more pressure on AAPL? If so, I like it. AAPL being defensive for a change may be good. The clock is ticking and folks here have mentioned that AAPL's contracts for digital downloads expire in Jan. with at least one major label. The recording industry wants to settle issues with AAPL related to DRM and iTunes pricing....high stakes negotiations.
