"Codelco is also reportedly thinking about enlarging its holdings in the Maricunga area. Since lithium mining is restricted in Chile, private companies that have holdings - such as Li3 and the Taiwanese-backed Simbalik - may be interested in a cooperation agreement, or selling all or part of their assets to the state miner.
Simbalik told local paper Diario Financiero it is in talks with Codelco, while Li3 has also been named but has not confirmed or denied the negotiations to BNamericas."
