DAILY PRACTICE
Hasidim have strict guidelines and rituals that are intertwined with their daily lives. Hasidic Jews believe that the torah, which consists of the first five books of the Bible, is the direct word of God. Therefore, any rules found in these books should be practiced on a daily basis to the extent possible. Most Hasidic Jews count 613 commandments in the torah, involving everything from prayer, to charity and dietary laws. Other important practices include prayers for daily events, attending religious services, regular study, obligations to the community and observance of the Sabbath and other holy days.
