Agreed on the FDA hurdle, but it might be decades before MLB got around to addressing Ampakines in the clubhouse - based on MLB's historical precedent anyway in dealing with Amphetamines, tobacco, and steroids.

On the other hand fans might revolt over the proposed banning of Ampakines after the fans get used to the following from their favorite players who are hopped up on Ampakines:

1. Far fewer instances of getting thrown out at 3rd base with less than two outs.
2. Much more cerebral interviews.
3. No more "We gave 110%" quotes.
4. No more falling for the old "hidden ball trick".
5. Laying off the high heater with 2 strikes.

Baseball Groupies would probably protest an Ampakine ban too - Susan Sarandon would be their spokesperson.
