07:39 RMBS Rambus upbeat analyst day; Positive litigation outlook ahead - WR Hambrecht (14.10 ) Briefing.com 11/16/05

WR Hambrecht came away positively impressed on the near-term outlook on the litigation front and on the long-term viability of the IP business model from the Rambus Analyst day. The company provided a litigation update, a product and IP overview and financial outlook. The firm believes that there is a short-term trading opportunity in RMBS shares for the following three reasons: 1) expected positive outcome in the Hynix trial as judge Whyte is expected to dismiss Hynix's spoliation claims against Rambus in the next couple weeks; 2) anticipation that Rambus is to renew its license with Toshiba this quarter; and 3) continued positive developments in the San Francisco courthouse with regards to the price fixing case. Longer-term, the firm remains cautious until they see more visibility on the litigation front. The firm is maintaining its Hold rating.

Rambus is up .29 to $14.39 in pre market. Probably a head fake, but the MMs will go beserk if they lose control of the price and it gets and stays above $15 through options expiration.

If there is buying pressure and an early move up on volume, look for a powerful vice to be put on the share price today by the professionals.

Just my opinion.
