with other angels for shared due diligence and investments.
Legal companies seeking capital go through a vetting process
before being chosen to present and then we work with entrepreneurs
to help them put their best foot forward to the angels and media.
This angel group model has been very effective in other sectors.
We operate on membership dues from angels and presenting
companies and do not take finder's fees.
At least once per quarter, the ArcView angels meet to hear
presentations from the best pre-screened entrepreneurs seeking
funding. Presentations are videotaped for angels who can't
make the meetings. Following the presentations, we have a
social hour, dinner, and party.
It's a full day of evaluation and relationship building that
also usually includes a special guest speaker. In the past
we've had former California Assembly Speaker, Willie Brown and
Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn address our group.
After the meeting, due diligence teams are put together from
people interested in possibly investing in given companies.
The media has been taking notice of our efforts. In the last
few months, ArcView has been featured on NPR's Marketplace,
Wall St. Journal, Yahoo! Finance, Seattle Times, Market Watch,
MSNBC, Huffington Post, and many other outlets.
Our next meeting is on April 29th in Seattle, WA. We expect
to hold meetings in Denver and Boston in the coming months.
