I'm totally discussed!!!. Please someone tell me I'm just having a bad day. I have worked for a public company for over 8 years closely related to IR and treasury. I have seen enough registrations for equity in relation to employees so many times it would make you sick and I have never seen the stick price be a current market. The point of stock options are to incentivise employees and in order to achieve this you have to set the strike price above current market prices. Unless they believe the stock will dramatically fall between issuance and vesting.
