SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Hewlett-Packard (HPQ:$19.758,0$-0.032,0-0.16%) Chief Executive Meg Whitman, who ran for California governor about two years ago as an opponent of same-sex marriage, says she has changed her mind.
Whitman, the Republican candidate who challenged Democrat Jerry Brown, said in a Wednesday statement that she now believes "there is no legitimate reason for denying same-sex couples the same rights that are available to opposite-sex couples."
